Clementine case study

Time period

Continuously from 1 February 2017.
Clementine is Meraki's second customer.

Their story

  • Clementine is a leading Hungarian-owned data mining and analytics company and a leading player in the country.

Its main profile includes text and voice analysis, the development of Hungarian NLP-based and predictive systems.

Clementine’s Hanga, a virtual assistant, is also the basis of MÁV's intelligent passenger assistance solution ELVIRA.

The challenge

Clementine's educational activities include making the world of data mining, data analysis, text analytics and artificial intelligence more understandable and accessible to its partners.

To this end, in addition to its podcast series, it organises in-depth professional conferences and meetups, but also uses a more cost-effective and targeted tool: its own monthly newsletter.

Our client wanted its existing newsletter to reach its customers and followers in a more attractive and effective way.

The solution

Meraki is already experienced in creating text and graphics for newsletters. Based on this, the old Clementine newsletter has been redesigned:

  • we have made it look more aesthetically pleasing and coherent graphically,
  • we simplified it: we have replaced the previous text with less and more readable copy, so that links to in-depth articles are mainly directed to the Clementine site,
  • we have introduced new columns to meet the above objectives: for example, the newsletter will regularly close with a Popcult column, featuring a highlight video or image made with AI. But there is also a commentary section to reinforce the authenticity of the company, where Clementine's staff give their expert opinion on a very exciting and scientific news item selected by us.

Results

clearer and more exciting
The number of openings has more than doubled
the click-through rate has tripled

Currently it is a clean and readable newsletter using Clementine branding elements. The new column structure has made the newsletter clearer and more exciting.

The open and read rates have also increased:
The number of openings has more than doubled and the click-through rate has tripled since August 2022.

The conclusion

The newsletter genre is much more important than many might first think. Unlike social media, it's entirely a customer-controlled channel and, if done right, it delivers your company's messages in an easily digestible format. Newsletters are not a function of company size, as they are an excellent way to raise your company's profile and deepen customer loyalty.
